Respiratory Assist

Due to the advances in medical technology more and more patients are being saved from what would have previously been a life ending illness or disease and are able to regain full functionality and quality of life, but in some cases before the full recovery can happen a patient needs assistance with or full control of their respiratory efforts. In other cases the need for assistance or full control may be long term. In either case these patients regularly require transport from one facility to another and in some cases home.

Since the patients are unable to be taken off the ventilator or bipap support they require an extra level of care which we can provide. We have more than 60 paramedics who have obtained the CCEMT-P (critical care emergency transport program) at Century's expense, and are more than qualified to transport these patients. Furthermore, Century is the only service that can provide real and true bipap support. We are proud to be able to, at any time, transport more than 22 patients on ventilator and bipap support at the same time. This exceeds the capabilities of all the services in the region COMBINED. It is this focus in excellence and preparedness that makes Century Ambulance Service, Inc. the service that most of the hospitals in our service area rely on when dealing with STEMI alerts, evacuations, and disasters.

Currently we use three of the newest and best ventilator, bipap and dual purpose machines: the Newport Medical's HT70 (ventilator/bipap), the BIO-MED Services Crossvent 3+ (ventilator), and the Respironics BiPAP Focus. Each of these machines offer unparalleled portability and flexibility in their use and function. Our portable ventilators are newer technology than often found in the hospital portable ventilator setting, and we currently provide the only available battery powered portable bipap machines in the region bar none. We do not "finangle" a ventilator to "closely simulate" bipap. What we offer is the real thing, true bipap therapy door to door with no interruptions in therapy.
