Basic Life Support (BLS)

BLS transportation (or non-emergency transportation) has become an ever growing need in our community and across the nation. BLS transports provide safe medically supervised transport to patients who do not require advanced interventions but do require medical monitoring and supervision. There are a plethora of reasons for this type of transport, including the hemodynamically unstable dialysis patient, the immunosuppressed chemo patient, the TB, MRSA and ORSA patient requiring contact isolation as well as the psychiatric patient representing a threat to themselves or to society. To maximize patient comfort, all of our stretchers are equipped with extra thick mattresses, four pillows, and air mattresses for long distance trips and each unit has climate control tailored to our patients desire/condition. Most of our BLS transports are handled by an ALS unit, but we also have an additional five BLS units to handle the overflow during the busiest times of the day. Each of these BLS units are manned by two EMTs at a minimum. Each transport is tailored to the patient's condition, needs and desires to ensure not only a safe medically supervised transport but also as comfortable and relaxing a ride as possible.
